JOB SUMMARY: A leading agricultural company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of pesticides, fertilizer, and other related agricultural products requires the above to drive the regulatory and development of soil conditioning, foliar feed and pesticide products to enhance the growth of crops within the South African and international agricultural markets. JOB DESCRIPTION: Minimum requirements for the role: A BSc or B.Agric or related qualification is preferred.Ideally looking for a Plant Pathologist with some understanding of regulatory development or an interest to move into this field.Must have previous work experience in a Plant Pathology role.Previous experience having worked with product registrations and supporting commercial activities is will be preferred but not essential for this role.Previous experience handling registrations ideally within the agricultural or related markets is preferred.The successful candidate must be computer literate, be self-motivated and have good people skills.The successful candidate must have good communication skills and have excellent leadership and project management skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Researching new ways to control plant diseases, including experimentation with new chemicals that can be used as pesticides or fungicides to kill fungus or bacteria that cause plant diseasesDeveloping and implementing disease prevention programs Diagnosing plant diseases based on symptoms observed on leaves, stems, roots, flowers, and fruiting bodiesCollecting samples of diseased plants to be tested in a lab for identification of specific pathogens or fungiCoordinating with other scientists to develop new products and procedures to manage plant diseasesAssist with the regulatory and development of soil conditioning, foliar feed and pesticide products to enhance the growth of crops within the agricultural marketsIdentifying new products to develop, analysing the market and liaising with sales and technical personnel.Creating new product development plans and creating a specimen label, MSDS / SDS sheet, and project list of all laboratory and field trials that would be needed to complete the registration in the county of choice.Creating protocols for trials which will be used by internal and or external person for specific product development for both laboratory and field work.Working directly with the department of agriculture – to hand in registration dossiers, updates, renewals of current products and collections.Checking all published, marketing and label regulation compared to the act 36 of 1947, making sure is aligned to this regulation and internal policy.Ensuring all product renewals are up to date on a monthly basis.Ensuring all products have valid and updated tm registered and that these are submitted to the department of agriculture if required for registration proposes.Attending monthly meetings with senior management to ensure that regulation data and registrations are done timeously and correctly.Assisting with trials: this includes disease pressure scorings, plot planting, data generation, yield estimations and any other task related to consistent and trustworthy data generation Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
