JOB SUMMARY: A well-established chemical company requires the above to assist the procurement director with procuring raw materials both internationally and locally ensuring that stock is available for distribution to a variety of manufacturing clients on a national basis. JOB DESCRIPTION: Minimum requirements for the role: A National Diploma or certification in Supply Chain Management or related is preferred for this role. Understanding of chemicals and chemicals purchases would be an advantage.Previous international procurement experience is essential for the role.Previous international raw material procurement experience is preferred.Must have good written and verbal skills and be able to communicate and converse in EnglishPrevious experience having worked on SAP or related ERP System is preferred.Must have good negotiation skills and persuasion abilities.Must have a good understanding of finances and working capital.Must have basic to intermediate excel experience.Must have good attention to detail and accuracy. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Assisting the Procurement with procuring raw materials both internationally and locally ensuring that stock is available for distribution to a variety of manufacturing clients on a national basis.Establishing branch and company stock requirement using sap and requisitions received.Negotiating prices, payment terms and discount terms with international and local suppliers thereby ensuring cost effective supply.Ensuring effective communication is maintained between international and local suppliers and the company.Monitoring and analysing trends and economic conditions to anticipate product trends and thereby determine when the best time to buy would be and from which region/area.Preparing and maintaining strategic category plans for the key categories of the business.Building relationships and working closely with suppliers to obtain the best product and price.Communicating supplier and product information to senior management so effective purchasing decisions can be made.Selecting, ordering and purchasing at the most favourable price and product consistent with quality, quantity and specification requirements. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
