Job Description A leading IPP is looking for a Specialist EPC lawyer to join their team in Cape Town.This position requires a highly skilled individual whose responsibilities would include drafting, reviewing, negotiating and execution of engineering procurement and construction agreements, split structure agreements (both for construction and operation), operation and maintenance agreements, supply agreements, subcontracts, co-operation and interface agreements, service level agreements, performance bonds, parent company guarantees, monitoring and control of general contractual obligations, and procurement documents, largely under under the REIPPP Programme, RMIPPP Programme, and private off-take agreements.Minimum Requirements•Legal degree with advanced projects construction knowledge, preferably from a top tier South African law firm or an international firm.•Minimum 3 years (post admission experience) strong and proven legal-commercial experience in the construction practice group, with experience in financial closing of renewable projects.•Experience with the typical REIPPPP power purchase agreements, implementation agreements, direct agreements and all other typical project finance agreements.•Strong commercial knowledge on energy matters and bankability of deals.•Must be able to handle a large number of complex transactions.•Ability to work under pressure.•Solution driven•Detail oriented, with an ability to establish and follow processes.•The ability to use own initiative to do what is required.•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Advantageous•Understanding of the key commercial and business drivers in the renewable energy environment.•Understanding of financing agreements and corporate and commercial agreements.•Understanding how various technologies work and the underlying performance criteria relating to those technologies.•Knowledge of latest engineering science and technology relating to the renewable energy sector.•Previous experience with an IPP in solar PV, thermal, and wind energy projects.•Strong commercial and/or technical background.
