This is a senior management role as part of the Executive Management Team with focus on strategic leadership. Strong people management skills required.The purpose of the role is: Improve supply chain performance in-line with the business strategic objectives by increasing productivity and reducing costs while focusing on efficiency and upskilling of resources.Ensure the company secures the supply of goods and services essential to the company’s operations, through strategizing the most cost-effective transactions, agreements and planning between internal and external stakeholders.Foster effective co-ordination between structures reporting into the Supply chain manager as well as other neighbouring departments. Procurement Management:Sourcing Strategies:Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, building and maintaining good relationships with them.Being able to understand and scrutinise technical products and suitability to purpose. Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers to ensure specifications and quality standards are clarified and adhered to.Negotiating and agreeing contracts to secure the most advantageous termsResource Management:Labour Crewing:Efficiently coordinate the activities of personnel within the Supply chain manager’s structures to ensure that all activities are clearly defined and performance standards are metFacility Utilisation:Design and maintain the storage facility in a manner that ensures security of the items stored therein.Monitor forecasting levels of demand to meet business needs and maintain stock levelsDistribution Management:Distribution Strategies:Manage JHB and Rustenburg Distribution Centres.Manage daily distribution planning.Manage airfreight and sea freight export functions.Manage import and/or cross-trade functions.Optimal use of delivery structures – planning, routing, vehicles.Reduce overall delivery costs per unit sold.Review, recommend & implement the use of best practice distribution technologies & practices.Safety Management:Risk AssessmentsIncident InvestigationsSystems AdherenceHousekeepingQuality Management:Continuous Improvement: Continually investigate and interrogate current practices and processes.Implementation of corrective and preventative actionsHuman Resource Management:Training and DevelopmentCompile and Monitor DPs for staff.Review WIs & SW’s and ensure training is implemented.Identify and mentor talent potential.Labour Relations.Attendance.Overtime.Budgets: Cost control, Maintain and manage costs
