Overview Production ManagerA leading plastic manufacturing company situated in Johannesburg is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Production Manager to join their team.The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for: The primary task of this position is to manage the smooth operation of the thermoforming machines and to ensure that high-quality products are produced.Function in a self-directed and team environment.Assist and guide other operators e.g., setters, shift administrators, operators, packers, box makers and material handlers in their daily tasks.Ensure that all staff report for work on time, proper timekeeping, and clocks, and follows attendance policy and guidelines.Discipline staff, including the writing of warnings and counselling.Conduct and submit staff assessments and new staff inductionEnsure that Supervisors manage consumables e.g. knives, blades, rags, first aid stock, blue plastersEnsure that Supervisors manage waste e.g. Classification and segregation of waste, Education of staff regarding waste and minimise wasteEnsure that Supervisors manage injuries on duty, accident and incident management and reporting of WCAProduct dimensions & manufacturing cycle timesAttend meetings when required.Machine Safe operations requirementsMaintain a 5S work environmentBRC Food Safety ComplianceFollow all company safety policies and procedures and attend all safety training related to the job position.Ensures equipment used in forming process is operated properly and all safety mechanisms and guards are in placeUnderstands how to handle a machine properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc.Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredUnderstands and performs emergency evacuation drills Key requirements: BEng/BSc/BTech/in Engineering/Production ManagementPrevious experience working in the thermoforming plantPrevious forming operator advantageBe able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
