Overview Full Time Quantity SurveyorThis client of ours is currently looking for a capable, experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team in KwaZulu-Natal.Role Responsibilities Conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reportsApplying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project where appropriate or applicable, and where necessary involving Senior ManagementManaging and taking ownership of estimating and cost planning activities to include presenting the final cost plan including developing whole lifecycle cost modelsValue engineering, risk management and life cycle costing where applicableEnsuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed upon timeouslyTaking a lead role in engaging with the client and other consultants, at all project stagesWhere appropriate, leading a cost management team, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilitiesEnsuring that QA/QC procedures are adhered to at all times Internal management accountabilities, to include:Knowledge management – ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the company’s internal database and Best Practice libraryFinancial management – utilising the company financial management system to keep track of the ongoing margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commissionProcess improvement – identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processesTraining and Mentoring – Identifying and proposing training requirements for Quantity Surveyors in the cost management team and mentoring staff as required Key Performance IndicatorsThe Quantity Surveyor will in part be assessed by the extent to which: Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on timeService delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of the appointmentStrong relationships are developed with clients and cross-functional team membersThe cost management team is effectively led (where appropriate) within the context of delivering a specific commissionGeneral line management responsibilities (where appropriate) are effectively dischargedBusiness development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, are identified and acted uponMargin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts are kept track of on all commissionsKey information and data are effectively cascaded and appropriately retained Behavioural Competencies Strong analytical abilityExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong business development skillsTeam player and team leaderExcellent interpersonal and professional manner, able to identify and resolve conflictAble to give and receive feedback in a positive mannerIntegrity, care, and commitment to providing the highest level of service to clients and company Education and Experience Relevant tertiary qualification i.e., bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Quantity Surveying Diploma obtained from a recognised tertiary institutionMust have a professional Quantity Surveyor qualification (PrQS) or be in process of obtaining it within the next year and be in Good Standing with the SACQSPMinimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial/property environment (preferable)
