Overview Senior Procurement ManagerAn exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Procurement Manager (Indirect spending) at the client’s head office in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The Senior Procurement Manager will be responsible for reducing the Total Cost of Ownership on two spend categories across the business – this will include ensuring continuity of supply and on-time delivery of projects. The successful incumbent will deploy advanced procurement processes, techniques and methodologies to optimise supplier, equipment and product performance across the spend category to contribute to significant and sustainable shareholder value. There are challenging opportunities and projects daily.Role Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of sourcing strategies and projects across the spend category, through liaison and collaboration with the Operations Team and the formation of cross-functional sourcing teamsExhibit subject matter expertise regarding trends across the spend category to advise internal users on current and future market opportunities, and to implement proactive strategies to take advantage of such opportunitiesConduct continuous spend analysis across the spend portfolio to identify, scope and validate projects that will result in measurable value to the organisationPrioritise procurement involvement based on the magnitude of spend, strategic importance and opportunities for value deliveryWill be responsible for delivering and tracking quantifiable financial benefits through the reduction of the Total Cost of Ownership and ensuring they are delivered to the bottom-lineProvide leadership to cross-functional sourcing teams in the deployment of strategic procurement levers and techniques on assigned commodities and projects within the spend category, which will include leading key RFx processesAct as the central point of contact between Procurement and the Operations Team for all communications related to the spending categoryCommunicating standard processes, best practices, progress reporting and issue resolutionFostering and managing key supplier relationships to create short- and long-term value for the businessLed all efforts in educating the appropriate suppliers and internal stakeholders on the principles of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)Preparing for and leading key supplier negotiationsSupporting the drafting of contracts and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and ensuring Group Legal approval before implementation Behavioural Competencies Expertise in strategic sourcing and procurement processesAdvanced negotiation skillsStrategic cost analysis and financial management skillsFacilitation, communication and change management skillsExperience in procurement of equipment, supplies and servicesProject Management SkillsExcellent team manager and playerExcellent Building RelationshipsProactiveDecision-maker Education and Experience Tertiary Qualification within Procurement, Business, Finance or Engineering fieldMinimum 10 years of procurement experience, of which at least 5 years must have been within a management roleExperience and industry knowledge in Capex and MRO is essentialPrior exposure to category/commodity management, procurement or an engineering or production environment is highly desirableDemonstrated success in managing a multi-disciplinary team in a project-type environment will be advantageousCIPS certification will be advantageous
