A leading industrial manufacturing company situated in Johannesburg is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced SHEQ Risk Officer and Buyer to join their team. The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for: Buyer Duties: Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. Maintain a database of approved suppliers and continuously build relationships with suppliers and vendors. Ensure the smooth flow of paperwork to the finance department. Preparing paperwork for regulatory bodies. Understand, work with and possibly help to develop e-commerce. Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements. Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures. Managing budgets and ensuring cost-effectiveness. Ensuring that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards. Advising businesses on increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Drafting reports and making written recommendations SHEQ Risk Duties Compile and maintain safety files and other related relevant files for customers and tender applications Conduct pre-implementation risk assessments on new sites when required and identify risk mitigation measures in conjunction with contractors Review Contractor Risk Assessment. Visit sites to assess work for compliance with specifications. Provide SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation on NCRs issued Requirements Diploma in SHEQ Management Knowledge of the ISO management systems & would be an added advantage Previous working experience in purchasing Communication and influencing skills, in person and writing Analytical and problem-solving skills Outstanding negotiation skills Decision-making Attention to detail but also the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture.
