Job Number 68391 Job Type Permanent Job Title Management Accountant Computer Skills ERP,JD Edwards,Sarbanes Oxley,BMS Industry Manufacturing City Cape Town Province Western Cape Job Description Reporting to the Finance ControllerJob Purpose: The prime purpose of the Management Accountant is to be responsible for reporting valuable management information, leading changes and improvements, providing financial controls and month end processing through the application of accounting principles, analysis of information, and preparing financial / cost accounting reports.Job Responsibilities:Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain accurate general ledger entries in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that organization has a full and accurate statement of financial positionParticipate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial data including income statement and balance sheetComplete, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions (reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and fillings)Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulationsComply with all accounting principles and all relevant regulations, laws, and standardsMaintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidentialParticipate in continuous improvement activities and provide suggestions for cost reduction and improved efficiency Continue to develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional studies Provide support services by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisionsUndertake Sales and Inter-Company reconciliations Prepare overhead cost analysisSupport Location Controller in audits and SOX reviews on site, within Business Unit and if required other locations / across Division Participate in investment appraisalsEnsure spending is kept in line with the budget Support Location Controller in informing key strategic decisions and formulating business strategies, advising on the financial implications of business decisions Analyse financial performance and contribute to medium and long-term business planning and forecasts Offer professional judgement on financial matters and advise on ways of improving business performanceInterpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers, and liaise with other functional managers to put finances and accounts in contextMonitor and evaluate financial information systems and suggest improvements where neededEnsure correct and compliant controls and implement and maintain corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls
