Overview Senior Electrical EngineerAn industry-leading company situated in Johannesburg is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team.A key focus area for this position will require the candidate to actively participate in and lead as required the development and delivery of core engineering outputs to energy services and solutions. This entails leading designs independently, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and following good engineering practices. This includes the designing of renewable and electrical energy systems, accurately estimating project costings, accurately calculating system production and ensuring the designed systems are effective, integrated and robust during operationKey requirements: The designing of renewable energy systemsDesign of Sub- station, and MV/ LV systems for both renewable projects and municipal projectsAccurately predict project costingsAccurately calculating system production and ensuring the integrated designed systems that are robust during operationsWriting proposals and presentations.Understand and evaluate the business potential, build business cases, and develop small- and large-scale solar projects up to financial close.Expand knowledge in renewable energy and other key emerging energy trends, and build long-term relationships with clients through a professional and correct work ethic.Manage work autonomously, ensuring accurate reporting at required timescalesDeliver a strong ability to develop solutions and to respond to the fast-changing market environmentPerform interface management by ensuring all interfaces are co-ordinated, engineered and implemented across disciplines and plant areasLead and manage the delivery of an integrated engineering system.Business development and ability to grow business. Experience: Minimum 10 years of design experience in electrical infrastructure projects.Design of renewable energy systems, using tools like PVSystExcellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and using DigsilentElectrical Design services for roof-mounted and ground-mounted PV and wind projectsKnowledge of Biomass, hydro and CSP projects would be an advantageDeveloping a Solar PV or Wind power project, including the ability to evaluate and perform feasibility studies, conduct technology configurations, conceptual designs, detailed designs and cost analysis for the full lifecycle of the asset, as well as understanding technology-specific contractual agreementsExperience in various power project development phases, as well as various types of developmentsDesign of sub-station on both primary and secondary sides for 132/22kv,11kv and 66kv/22kv, 11kv.Able to conduct Grid code studies on renewable projects and interface with Eskom Education & certificates: BSc/Eng/ BTech in Electrical EngineeringProfessionally Registered (ECSA) CTC R980k – R850k p/a depending on experience
