Minimum requirements for the role:Minimum matric and a production management training or related qualification is preferred but not essential as long as the successful candidate has experience working as a production manager within the food industry.Previous experience having worked as a production manager within the food manufacturing or meat processing, or related industry is essential for the role.Previous experience with ISO FSSC and managing health and safety within a factory / plant environment is preferred.Previous experience having worked in a unionised environment is essential.Previous experience having worked in a BRC accredited environment is preferred but not essential.The successful candidate will be responsible for:Managing, driving and achieving production targets in order to support and meet sales targets.Optimising operational costs and ensuring quality processes.Driving and managing increased product income at reduced costs.Ensuring all operations comply with OSHA standards including alignment to the companys health and safety and environment policy.Ensuring all operations and facilities comply with accreditation requirements.Promoting and encouraging a culture of teamwork employing best practices that benefit all employees.Promoting continuous improvement principles and analytical problem-solving techniques.Assisting with fault identification, fixing of root cause, and ensuring the accurate completion of production logs and job cards.Maintaining and improving product income levels through waste reduction, cost reduction and cost improvement plans.Managing labour, maintenance and repair costs while maintaining product quality.Evaluating performance against plans and determining corrective action to enhance the units performance in support of sales objectives, including driving continuous improvement of existing people, processes, technologies and systems.Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
