Job Number Skills Ms Office Industry Steel City Ekurhuleni (East Rand) Job Description Purpose: Specialist for Mechanical Hydraulics & Mechanical Installations Duties and Responsibilities:Quality and risk management: The Technician’s responsibilities include monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment.He needs to collaborate with other departments/professionals and be able to make useful recommendations wherever possible.Inspecting, analysing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment.Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals.Running tests and interpreting results to make effective recommendations.Writing up reports, safety regulations, and preventative maintenance plans.Sourcing replacement parts.Negotiating with suppliers and clients.Repairing or replacing faulty equipment.Fabricating any components required.Providing time and material cost estimates before starting a job.Analysing to 10 delays and reporting weekly on the RCA’s required.Keeping abreast of advancements in your field and attending workshops as required. Project management: As part of the projects team you will need to coordinate the schedule, the budget, issues and risks of the all project given.Make sure that the project is well-organized and that it runs smoothly. This can include communicating with variousdepartments in the organization to make sure everyone is on the same page.You would need to excel in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.There is always something that needs attention, more often many things, so you must be comfortable in a stressful atmosphere.Detail Oriented: Attention to detail is critical when you’re overseeing so many different aspects of the project, all of which are important to its well-being and success.Dependable: The project manager is going to depend on you to handle some projects independently, and therefore, it’s crucial that you are dependable and can be relied on to uphold their responsibilities without having to be micromanaged.Good Communicator: Think of yourself as the bridge connecting the project manager to various other project members, then you can see the importance of having superior communications skills. They need to understand the message and deliver it clearly to the target audience.Productive: Projects demands productivity from its participants, and this is especially true for you. Coordinators are often the grease that keeps the wheels of the project turning, so it’s doubly important that you are productive.Get Things Done: The last thing a project manager wants is for you to be given a task and then it doesn’t get followed-through. You have a great deal of autonomy, but if you can’t get things done, then it’s all for naught.The ability to get things done is probably the biggest requirement of mechanical technician during project coordination. Plant Availability: Meet Downtime target for all equipment delays and preventing breakdown repeats or repeated incidents Plant Reliability and condition monitoring: Top 10 delays will be identified and RCFA analyses will be done on an 80/20 Principal (Pareto Identify 80/20).The Improvement in the reduction of the identified delays will be evaluated.Inspections related to following mentioned Equipment will be verified and inspections to be done on the equipment services (e.g. Lubrication, Air and Hydraulics) as well as daily inspections on CMS and ensuring that reporting of corrections needed to the mechanical maintenance department is done procedurally and systematically.Rebuilding quality of above mentioned equipment and their reliability will be measured. Continuous improvement, Initiatives: Initiatives (improvements) identified, approved and implemented. The results achieved with regards to Cost, Time and Scope evaluated.Management of change needs to be implemented to ensure sustainability.(Procedures developed, drawings updated, training given). Training: Training development procedure approved by manager and to be made to uplift the Mechanical skills of other mechanical personnel. Number of personnel will be accessed through modules completed.Self-training courses to be done and a CPD rating will be required. Inherent Requirements Qualification and Experience Requirements: Needs to be a Millwright with an Engineering National Diplomat as minimal qualification.Excessive knowledge of Hydraulic -, Pneumatic circuits and fault-finding.Project planning, budgeting and executing.Supporting Engineering and Production in all aspects to minimise all delays and increase the effective production time.
