Job Description WANTED: BUSINESS UNIT LEADER (CLIMATE RISK) A special opportunity for a special person!A leading environmental, social, and governance (ESG) advisor to Business, Investors, and Financial Institutions is hiring NOW!The successful applicant will be responsible for:•Further developing and diversifying the organisation’s climate risk service offering•The strategic direction and financial sustainability of the organisation’s Climate Risk Unit (CRU)•Integrating climate risk assessment and disclosure into the organisation’s core service offerings•Working closely with the organisation’s communications team to generate content related to climate change and climate risk•Mentoring and managing junior and mid-level staff within and external to the CRU•Technical quality control and financial oversight of projects and assignments within the CRU•Business development and procurement of work including but not limited to climate change and climate riskQualifications:Advanced degree (Master’s) in a discipline relevant to climate change e.g., environmental science, environmental management, geography, development studies, air qualityRequired expertise and experience:•10-plus years experience in climate change or similar discipline•3-5 years experience in a management or senior technical role•Demonstrable experience developing technical and financial proposals for climate change assignmentsTechnical and project management experience in at least three of the following areas:•climate finance•environmental, social, and governance (ESG) due diligence•climate risk assessment•climate change impact assessment•greenhouse gas inventories/carbon footprint assessments aligned with relevant international standards•climate change adaptation strategies•climate change mitigation strategiesAdvantageous expertise and experience:•Experience in an advisory role to the financial sector, private equity in particular•Experience with climate-related disclosure and reporting•Experience assessing climate risk against international standards, e.g., Equator Principles•Experience in green bonds/climate bonds•Carbon markets/bonds/finance•Air quality impact assessment•Decarbonisation scenario planning/net zero action plans•Competencies
