JOB SUMMARY: Based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, this position is available immediately. The Company operates on a total cost to company basis. Provident fund and medical aid are compulsory benefits and are included in the total cost to companyThe Junior Legal Advisor will form part of a dynamic team and will report to the Legal Officer. The primary function of this role is to provide administrative support, conduct legal research, draft documents and ensure the efficient and effective administration of the Legal and Compliance Department. JOB DESCRIPTION: Education and Experience: Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) Must be an admitted attorney in South Africa Experience in short-term insurance law would be advantageousContract law.Agreements and contract drafting Minimum 2 years’ experience in a legal environmentExperience in an Insurance environment is beneficial The areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: Legal Drafting Letters of demand Cancellation notices and maintaining cancellation register Drafting service level agreements and addendums Ad hoc legal letters Drafting acknowledgment of debt and reviewing other legal documents General Maintenance of department registers Processing attorneys invoices Compiling and sending attorneys briefs Liaising with external panel of attorneys Legal research Rendering legal advice General administration and filing Complaints management Compliance drafting of policies/frameworks Due diligence reviews Knowledge: Sound knowledge of MS office packages Analytical thinker with detailed research proficiencies Ability to interpret legal documents Personal Attributes and Skills: Proficiency in English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Excellent interpersonal relationship skills High standards of personal integrity and honesty Willingness to work overtime if required Attention to detail and accuracy Problem solving skills Self-motivated Organized and detail-oriented Work both individually and as part of a team where appropriate The ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
